Black Butte Ranch is a private resort community nestled 8 miles northwest of Sisters. The planned community started development in 1970 and has since grown to a population of 5000 during peak tourism season. There is no better place for an authentic Oregon experience with seven of the Cascade’s high mountain peaks, sprawling Ponderosa Pines, and a bountiful wildlife.
Whether you are a retiree, seasonal resident, or vacationer, Black Butte Ranch is the perfect place to relax and unwind. This community feels very tight, as there are only a small number of permanent residents. There is always a welcoming sense in the air and tourists will quickly feel right at home. Homes on the ranch are typically cabin style, and there are also a small amount of condos to rent or own.
The ranch offers multiple restaurants, various retail shops, and a spa. If you want to change up the scenery, it is a quick drive to the local eateries and specialty shops in Sisters. Bend is only 30 miles away and is bustling with entertainment and dining options. Visitors and residents can enjoy boutiques, galleries and the popular breweries.
No matter the season, there are endless ways to enjoy the beautiful landscape surrounding Black Butte Ranch. Simply walking, running, or biking along the paths of this community is a rare scenic treat. There are two golf courses at Black Butte Ranch: Big Meadow Golf Course, which was awarded four stars by Golf Digest, and Glaze Meadow Golf Course. During the summer months, families enjoy the multiple swimming pools, including the newly renovated Lakeside Pool featuring expansive views of Central Oregon. In the winter, residents and guests can take a 20-minute drive to Mt. Hoodoo or an hour drive to Mt. Bachelor to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and sledding. Other activities include tennis, horseback riding, kayaking and standup paddle boarding.
